Bell's university talks series invites academics from universities to speak to its University Foundation students, to give them an insight into lectures at an English-medium university. This February, we welcomed two academics - Dr Paul Lashmar, Senior Lecturer, City, University of London and Magnus George Snr, Teaching Fellow, Lancaster University.
Magnus George Snr, spoke about 'Bootstrap financing for a new business', or how to finance your business using your own money. Dr Paul Lashmar, who is senior lecturer in the Department of Journalism at City, University of London, gave the students an introduction to news journalism.
Other speakers this term include speakers from University of Cambridge, Hult International Business School and University of Bedfordshire.
Meanwhile our Business Pathways students also experienced a sample lecture at Anglia Ruskin University's Cambridge campus. Students were given an economics lecture by Senior Lecturer, Dr Noah Karley based on 'National Income'.
Our schedule of visiting speakers and campus visits allow students to gain first-hand experience of life at a UK university. Whilst we work with students to give them the educational grounding to continue their studies at an English-medium University, we also work to ensure they have real-life knowledge of the whole university experience.
