Temporary closure of Bell schools

In response to the latest UK government announcement made today, Wednesday 18 March 2020, we regret very much to inform you that we will be temporarily closing Bell London and Bell Cambridge as of end of day Friday 20 March 2020 to help slow the spread of Covid-19.

Lessons will continue to be delivered online for students still enrolled at both schools and staff will be available for face-to-face support on request at Bell Cambridge. Our online provision will engage students for approximately 20 hours per week through a blend of the following:

  • twice daily live online face to face teaching in small groups, similar in approach to a classroom lesson at Bell
  • guided remote pair and group work to get students interacting with each other, practising their English and maintaining friendships
  • teacher-assessed homework to consolidate their learning

All students who return home will also be supported to defer completion of their course to a later date. Students who are booked to arrive in the next few weeks will be supported to postpone the course to a later date.

The welfare of our students continues to be our top priority. Our Designated Safeguarding Officers (also our School Principals) will be available - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students. Our school staff will speak regularly to students as well as host families to check on the wellbeing of students in their care.

Unfortunately, we can not confirm how long our schools will need to remain closed at this time. We will continue to monitor the latest official health and travel advice from the British Government, World Health Organisation and Public Health England to ensure we are able to take coordinated, proportionate, and decisive action in this evolving situation.

We will, of course, keep you updated with further developments. However, should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us at customersupport@bellenglish.com or +44 (0) 1223 275 598 (or directly to the school at the contact details below) – we are here to help you with any questions you may have.

With very best wishes to you, your friends and your family, we look forward to welcoming you in the near future when all our countries will have hopefully recovered from this unfortunate crisis.
