Spring Sketches

Students get a chance to show off their artistic side in our portraiture workshop.

Bell students were inspired by the sun as they signed up for a chance to draw each other and a few things around them one bright Spring afternoon. After introducing ourselves and our interests in art, we were all allowed 2 minutes in pairs to gaze into each others eyes as we surveyed where our facial features are situated. Sometimes this was shocking..eyes are half-way down our heads! We had 10 minutes afterwards to warm up with a sketch of our partners.

Unsurprisingly, this was a tricky task, even for experienced artists. As a result, we ran through the facial features vocabulary and pronunciation in English followed by a step-by-step guide to placing these features on faces in portraits.

With plenty of time to perfect the art, and get onto some Spring life drawing of flowers, students spoke lots of English and used various art mediums at this up-beat, creative session.
