A lovely group of students from Japan took over the dining room one afternoon last week to create the next generation of T-shirt fashion!
Students began by following, reading and discussing a handout full of fashion facts and pictures. The different parts of the t-shirt (including sleeves, hems and shoulders) were learnt and pronounced before our designers got down to business.
By using the template, the students were able to try out their many different designs before deciding on their favourite. Once decided, they could either have a white, yellow or orange t-shirt and a range of paint and glitter.
It took time, concentration and various phases to get to the final product, but by the end of the activity each student had a t-shirt to take home and remember their experience at Bell Cambridge.
By the end of the t-shirt making workshop our students had:
met, socialised and communicated with new friends
cooperated with Bell staff and students
learnt about the history of fashion in the UK
learnt or developed a new artistic skill
learnt new and specific vocabulary
produced an item of clothing to keep and remind them of their time at Bell.
Language in Action programme: learn to communicate like a local with free workshops, cultural and social activities to improve your English in real-life situations. Included with all Bell English courses for students aged 16 and over.
