Hiring a bike

If you're staying with us for a short amount of time, you can easily hire a bike from Rutland Cycling. They will also supply you with a helmet and a good quality lock.

Staying safe when cycling

  • we drive on the left-hand side of the road
  • use cycle routes wherever possible
  • always wear a cycle helmet (it's not a legal requirement, but we highly recommend you wear a helmet)
  • take special care at roundabouts, road junctions and where cycle routes join a main road
  • watch out for other vehicles turning in front of you, especially large vehicles such as lorries and buses
  • always cycle in single file - one cyclist behind another
  • make sure the lights on your bicycle work and use them when it is dark – you can be fined by the police if you do not do this!
  • if you think crossing the road is dangerous, get off your bicycle and push it across – always use the pedestrian crossing outside Bell to walk across
  • always lock up your bicycle
