Catrin Diamantino, CEO

Catrin’s first experience of international education was as a student when she left Sweden at the age of 18 to study in the U.S. She holds a master’s degree in Global Marketing from Emerson College in Boston.

She initially discovered the language travel industry when she travelled to the Isle of Wight as a Group Leader with Swedish company STS.

After 3 years as a Brand Manager within the FMCG sector she joined EC (then a small language school in Malta) in 1998 as Marketing Manager and became Sales & Marketing Director in 2006. During her time the organisation grew to 20+ language schools across three continents with over 40,000 students annually. 

In 2016 she became Executive Vice President Global Student Recruitment for EC Higher Education, focusing on international pathways into U.S Higher Education.

Judith Haste, Finance Director

Judith Haste, Finance Director 

Judith is a senior ACMA qualified accountant, with strong international commercial experience, gained in fast growing and changing environments.

She has worked in a range of sectors and organisation sizes, including as Director of Finance in both a FTSE 250 international group and a conservation charity before joining Bell in 2014.


Anderw Hart, Director of Operations

Andrew Hart, Director of Operations

Andrew has 15 years’ experience in international education. He joined Bell Switzerland in 2008, becoming General Manager in 2013, before taking on his new position of Director of Operations in January 2016. 

He holds an MA in TESOL, is Delta qualified, a CELTA trainer and has published and presented research in the field of critical reflection for teachers’ professional development. During his career, he has managed language schools and summer camps in New Zealand, Spain and Switzerland.


Zoe Hajifanis, Director of Sales and Marketing

Zoe Hajifanis, Director of Sales and Marketing

Zoe has been in the education sector for 12 years. Following a degree in history at UCL, Zoe embarked on a career in music teaching and then progressed to music publishing and advertisement working with a host of leading global brands.

She moved into the English Language sector in 2013 working as a regional manager at Kaplan International before working her way up to Sales Director in 2015.  

Zoe joined Bell in 2018.


Peter Phippen, Chair

Peter Phippen, Chair

Peter has spent 30 years in the media industry, holding board positions in the UK, USA, India and Australia. For many years he was a Board Director of BBC Worldwide Ltd, for whom he developed and ran BBC Magazines; he was also President and CEO of BBC Worldwide Americas Inc, launching a number of TV channels and chairing a joint venture with Discovery Inc.

Peter has been the Chair of the Professional Publishers Association and a Treasurer of FIPP (the global magazine body). In 2011 he received the Marcus Morris Award, the highest accolade in magazine publishing.

Peter is now a Director of Immediate Media Co, a large magazine and digital company, Chair of Sift, a digital B2B company, Chair of Texere Publishing, a cross-media publisher for the science and medical markets and he holds a number of other non-exec positions. Peter has also founded East West Relations Ltd. to help western media companies identify and secure opportunities in India, where he was born.


Mike Milanovic, Non-Executive Director

Mike Milanovic, Non-Executive Director

Mike has worked in English Language learning and assessment since 1977. He holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics, has published and presented extensively and has over 30 years’ academic, practical and managerial experience in this field. Following periods in France and Hong Kong, he joined Cambridge English Language Assessment in 1989 as Director of Research and Evaluation, becoming Deputy CEO in 1995 and CEO in 2003. At the time of his retirement in January 2014 he headed an organisation that had grown to over 600 full-time staff with offices in over 20 countries and nearly 5 million candidates a year in over 130 countries. Mike also founded the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) in 1991 and acted as its manager till 2014.

Since retiring from Cambridge English, Mike has taken on a number of roles. He is Senior Advisor to the National Educational Examinations Authority in China, to the Cambridge Malaysia Education Development Trust and to the Malaysian Ministry of Education. He founded and co-edited Studies in Language Testing with Cyril Weir from 1994 until 2014 as well as founding co-editing The English Profile series with Nick Saville, both published by Cambridge University Press. He has served on the board of the International Research Foundation (TiRF) and the Automated Language Teaching and Assessment Institute (University of Cambridge).
 


Geoff Spink, Non-Executive Director

Geoff Spink, Non-Executive Director

Geoff is an experienced board director and is also qualified as a Chartered Accountant.  He has a portfolio of directorships and advisory positions, following an executive career as Chairman, Chief Executive, or Finance Director at a number of UK listed plcs, including Protean plc and Hartest Holdings plc, together with service in additional leadership roles in various private and venture capital-backed companies.
