Course description

1 to 1 English gives you the opportunity to work with a dedicated teacher to receive individual support and tuition. Together, you and your tutor will identify specific language areas and skills to improve and create a bespoke language programme, using suitable learning materials for the focus you have chosen. Choose to study full-time for 15, 20 or 25 hours. Alternatively individual 1 to 1 sessions can be added onto any of courses. 

Your bespoke learning programme is tailored to suit your individual learning and language needs, developed around activities focused on your areas of interest (for example English literature, culture, business skills). Elements may include:

  • Language development

Develop your pronunciation and grammar, and learn new vocabulary.

  • Skills development

Improve your language skills – reading, writing, speaking and listening. 

  • Study skills

The Bell team will introduce you to a variety of learning resources available for future self-study. You will learn how to study effectively for example, methods for remembering vocabulary and phrasal verbs.

Focus on a specific skill to reach your learning goals faster. With a choice of three different language skills workshops, you can develop one area or combine two or more over a longer stay.

  • Exam Preparation

Learn the best techniques for exam success and improve your language skills. This will workshop will help you excel in both the IELTS and Cambridge English suite of exams.

  • Speaking and Listening

Develop your spoken fluency, improve your pronunciation and increase your confidence. You will learn through activities such as debating topical issues, listening for specific information and delivering presentations.

  • Reading and Writing

Improve your spelling, punctuation, formal and informal reading and writing skills. You will develop your language through activities such as taking notes, reading for understanding, writing for work and effective use of dictionaries.

You don't need to choose which skills to focus on until you arrive. Your teachers will offer advice on the best options for your needs.

Business Studies


Challenge your language skills by studying business topics in English. Learn to communicate fluently about the world of business as you explore topics such as: entrepreneurship, innovation, negotiations, writing a business plan, the secrets of successful marketing and managing business change.

You will study a range of business themes from starting a business to human resources and marketing. Each theory is illustrated using examples from real-life business through weekly case studies.

This module is designed for students with an Intermediate (B1) - Proficient (C2) language level.


Language in Action

Learn to communicate like a local with cultural and social activities to improve your English in real-life situations. All our structured activities have clear learning objectives to build your confidence and develop your language and skills.

Cambridge runs a full Language in Action programme included in your course price. In London students have weekly organised activities included, plus more independent time to explore the capital with guidance from the knowledgeable Bell London team.
