Teaching linguistic mediation

Construct and convey meaning when interacting with your students in your own native language and language your students are learning.
Teacher sharing her experience with other teachers

Remove barriers to understanding with linguistic mediation.

Linguistic mediation can support your students to communicate directly (by constructing and conveying meaning) using the language they are learning and their first language. It is one of the core collection of skills now included in the updated CEFR descriptors (2018).

You will delve into what mediation is, why it is important for language learning and how teachers can gain useful strategies for incorporating mediation activities in your lessons. You will also develop course new skills and ideas for teaching and assessing mediation activities in meaningful and engaging ways.

At Bell Teacher Academy, you will be joining a global community of teachers. This fully-inclusive programme includes a series of workshops and talks related to current thinking and trends in the sector, and a full programme of social events for you to explore life and culture in the UK – outside of the classroom.
