Your questions answered
Every year, Bell welcomes students from over 60 countries. The student you host may come from Europe, the Middle or Far East, Africa, Asia, or South America. Homestay students vary in age, traditionally they are aged 18-25, the minimum age is 16.
This varies from £140 to £258 per week depending on the type of room you have available and the meal option you provide.
As well as a warm welcome, students require a comfortable bedroom with a desk, chair and wardrobe.
Hosts are expected to provide students with bed and breakfast. In addition, you can choose to provide evening meals and weekend lunches.
Ideally, hosts need to live within a local bus or tube journey from Bell. Both our Cambridge and London schools are conveniently located in the city centres. Bell Cambridge is situated in Red Cross Lane, close to Addenbrookes hospital. Our London school is located on Southampton Place, five minutes from Holborn tube station.
Placements can range from two weeks to a couple of months or even a year. You are not obliged to take any student for periods longer than you agree to.
No. For the student, one of the benefits of living with a host family is that it provides a relaxed and natural setting in which to practise their English. Students are encouraged to share information about their home country and culture with hosts.

We have host families that have worked with us for over 30 years which is testament to the care and support we provide. Both hosts and students are supported by our dedicated accommodation support teams.
